Dentures that fit your lifestyle

Missing teeth can make it harder to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. Well-fitting dentures can help you chew more comfortably, support your cheeks and lips, and restore a natural-looking smile.

Dr. Richard Lee, DDS, offers full, partial, immediate, and snap-in implant dentures at Mill Plain Family Dental in Danbury. Call (203) 743-9001 to schedule a denture consultation.

traditional and immediate dentures Danbury, CT

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures are made after the teeth have been removed and the gums have healed, which often takes several months.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are placed the same day the teeth are removed, so you don’t have to go without teeth while you heal. They often need adjustments over the first several months and are usually relined once the gums have healed.

snap-in implant dentures Danbury, CT

Snap-In Implant Dentures

Snap-in dentures (also called click-in dentures or overdentures) use a small number of dental implants to hold the denture in place, so it is more stable than a traditional denture.

You can still take snap-in dentures out for easy cleaning.

Implants can remove the need for the palate portion of an upper denture (the part that covers the roof of the mouth), which can help reduce gagging and make it easier to taste food. Snap-in dentures can also help keep a loose lower denture from moving around in your mouth.

Partial Dentures

Removable partial dentures are a good option when you’re missing several teeth in the upper or lower arch. A partial has replacement teeth connected to a gum-colored base that often has a cast metal framework. Partial dentures can help keep your other teeth from shifting, make it easier to speak and eat, and support your cheeks and lips so your face does not look sunken.

cast metal partial dentures

Cast metal partials

Cast metal partial dentures slide over your existing teeth to fill the gaps. They are custom-made by a dental lab to fit securely over your natural teeth and are very durable.

flexible base partial dentures

flexible base partials

Flexible base partial dentures (also called Valplast partials) are made from a flexible, metal-free material for a lightweight, comfortable fit and a natural look.

caring for your dentures and partials

Dentures and partials need daily care to stay clean and look their best for years to come. If they aren’t cleaned properly, they can collect bacteria and become permanently stained.

Be careful when cleaning your denture or partial over the sink. Setting out a folded towel or filling the sink with water first can help keep it from breaking if you drop it.

Use a mild cleanser. Many cleaners are too abrasive and can damage your appliance. Ask Dr. Lee what he recommends, or look for the American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance when choosing products.

Keep your dentures moist when you are not wearing them. Storing them in a cleaning solution or water helps keep them from drying out or losing their shape.

Even with a complete set of dentures (top and bottom), it is very important to clean your tongue and gums daily and keep up with regular dental checkups so your mouth stays healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Full & Partial Dentures Danbury, CT

Which type of denture is right for me?

It depends on how many teeth you’re missing, the health of your remaining teeth and gums, your budget, and your preferences. Dr. Lee will walk you through full, partial, immediate, and snap-in implant dentures so you can choose the option that fits you best.

Most dentures take a few visits for impressions, fittings, and adjustments. Immediate dentures are placed the same day your teeth are removed and are usually relined once your gums heal.

Your gums and jawbone change shape over time, so dentures eventually need to be relined or replaced. Regular checkups let Dr. Lee catch fit problems early. Call us if your denture feels loose or causes sore spots.

Many plans cover part of the cost of dentures. Our team can check your benefits and bill your insurance for you. We also accept CareCredit, Proceed Finance, and Sunbit. See our financing options.

Eating with new dentures takes practice. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces, chew on both sides, and avoid very hard or sticky foods. We can adjust your denture if it rubs or feels uncomfortable.

It’s usually best to take dentures out at night so your gums can rest. Soak them in a denture cleaner or water so they stay moist and keep their shape.
