A fixed option for replacing a full arch of failing or missing teeth.

Losing most or all of the teeth in an arch can affect how you eat, speak, and feel about your smile. All-on-4 is a way to replace a full arch with a fixed bridge supported by four to six dental implants placed in your jawbone. The bridge does not come out at night, and in many cases it does not need to cover the roof of your mouth.
At Mill Plain Family Dental in Danbury, All-on-4 care is led on-site by Dr. Richard Lee, DDS. Your free consultation includes an exam, 3D imaging of your jaw, and a review of your options. Call us at (203) 743-9001 to get started.
The American Dental Association’s MouthHealthy site lists implants alongside bridges and dentures as ways to replace missing teeth, and Dr. Lee can walk you through which one fits.
Our All-On-4 and All-On-X zirconia restorations are planned carefully and designed to your specifications for long-term comfort and function. Ask our team about the terms of our Built to Last warranty during your free consultation.
The All-On-4 procedure involves removing your remaining teeth, placing 4-6 implants per arch, and securing a low-profile bridge to the implants. The implants are often placed at specialized angles to avoid the patient’s sinuses. This also avoids the need for expensive bone grafts that come with long healing times.
The traditional All-On-4 procedure involves 4 implants and acrylic denture teeth over a titanium frame. Our doctor has modified this procedure to provide an even better result for his patients based on his experience successfully placing countless dental implants. At Mill Plain Family Dental, we carefully analyze each and every case and base our treatment on your individual anatomy. Your doctor will place between 4 and 6 implants per arch and temporary fixed bridges will be secured while your implants integrate with your jawbones and your mouth heals.
After your healing is complete, the doctor and lab technician will design your final All-On-4 teeth with zirconia, which is a premium material that’s much stronger than the traditional acrylic (plastic) denture teeth offered at most other dental offices. Zirconia gives a more natural, life-like result which is also more hygienic and resistant to staining. This means your teeth will last longer and look better than the acrylic/titanium hybrid bridges you’ll find with many other All-On-4 specialists.
Many patients who have lost most of their teeth may be candidates, but it depends on your bone, your gums, and your overall health. Dr. Lee may use a mix of straight and angled implants to work around sinus areas and anchor into the strongest part of your jaw. Some patients need extra steps such as bone grafting first, and we will tell you if that applies to you.
Your free consultation, including 3D imaging, is where we answer that. If you are weighing options, you can also read about snap-in implant dentures.
Zirconia is a durable ceramic that is often used for All-on-4 bridges because it resists wear and staining and can be shaped and shaded to look natural. Compared with acrylic, zirconia is typically more resistant to staining, though no material lasts forever and every bridge needs regular care.
We will show you the materials we recommend for your case and explain why.

We numb the area, and most patients tell us the procedure itself is comfortable. Soreness, swelling, and bruising afterward are common, usually most noticeable in the first couple of days, and we give you aftercare instructions to manage them. We offer nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation. Learn more on our sedation dentistry page.
In some cases, yes. If your implants are stable enough, a temporary bridge can be attached the same day, which is called immediate loading. Your final bridge, made of durable zirconia, is made after your implants have healed. Whether this is right for you depends on your bone and your health, and Dr. Lee will tell you at your consultation.
Some patients can still be candidates. Dr. Lee may use a mix of straight and angled implants to work with the bone you have, and some patients need a bone graft first. Your consultation and second opinion are free, so you can find out what applies to you.
Expect a soft diet at first while you heal, and Dr. Lee will tell you when to move to firmer foods. Initial healing usually takes a few weeks, and full adjustment to your new teeth can take several months. Recovery varies with your health and how closely you follow your aftercare instructions.
Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush, and clean under and around the bridge daily with a water flosser and interdental brushes, because food can collect underneath. Keep up your checkups and cleanings, avoid very hard or sticky foods, and tell us if you grind your teeth, since a night guard may help. You cannot remove the bridge yourself, so regular visits matter.
The surgery itself typically takes several hours, depending on whether one arch or both are treated. You leave with a temporary bridge attached to your implants.
Healing generally takes a few months so your implants can integrate with your bone. After that, we fabricate your final bridge over several appointments, and you help us design your smile. Your timeline may differ, and Dr. Lee will give you a plan specific to you.
